I’m Dave Mardel, I’m a product advisor at Western Toyota in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Fifteen years ago, I had the pleasure of being involved in both regional and national walk around competitions for the 2007 Tundra. So, after much anticipation, great excitement and a little sense deja-vu it brings me great pleasure to offer a brief presentation of the 2022 Tundra.

A brand new platform from the ground up with many Toyota-firsts. Exuding a strong, muscular stance, rugged sophistication and a design mantra of technical muscle, the 2022 Tundra offers many new and modern features yet retains the capabilities demanded by the lifestyles of many Tundra owners. An active front spoiler actually retracts under the vehicle to allow more airflow passing under to improve towing aerodynamics by up to 27%. That’s significant.

Bi-beam LED headlamps are standard on all Tundras with a manual levelling system that has 11 dial positions. The exterior mirrors have been improved. They are larger and more aerodynamic for less wind noise and better visibility. All Tundras feature sensors on the door handles for locking and unlocking the doors, and a smart key or push-button start system.

Another Toyota-first is incorporated into your Smart Key is a power tailgate release, which I think is a very cool feature and of great convenience. Also, CrewMax models feature a vertically-sliding power-controlled and heated rear glass which is not offered by any competition.

Toyota’s interior features a wide horizontal layout which is spacious, comfortable, sophisticated and offers premium finishes. Standard are 8-way power driver and passenger seats with power lumbar support, new framing, new seat construction for improved comfort and increased slide travel. Another Toyota-first is a wireless cellphone system that maintains your phone in an upright position. It’s also more powerful and charges your phone much faster (than previous versions of wireless chargers). Leather-wrapped heated steering wheel is standard equipment on SR5 models and up.

They also feature tilt and telescopic steering adjustment. A 4.2” multi-information display is in your instrumentation standard, with Platinum and 1794 models bringing a 12.3” touchscreen with a head-up display. The brand-new multimedia system boasts 5-times the processing power of the previous generation. It offers a centrally-located 8” screen with a 14” high-definition touchscreen available. The system also provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an intelligent assistant to perform functions by voice command, and a cloud-based navigation system for the most updated information available.

The 2022 Tundra’s performance comes from an all-new twin-turbo 3.5L V6 that produces 389 horsepower and 479 lb ft of torque and is mated with an brand-new 10-speed automatic transmission for improved ride quality and improved fuel economy.

The fuel economy ratings are much improved over the predecessor, with a 13.5L/100km rating for city and 10.6L/100km rating for highway and a combined 12.2L/100km Towing has also been improved with capabilities of upward of 12,000 lbs on certain models which represents an increase of 17.6% over the previous model.

A redesigned front suspension enhances ride quality, drive performance and durability. It features a fully independent double-wishbone system that has a stabilizer bar and twin-tube shock absorbers. Completely redesigned rear suspension features twin-tube shock absorbers and dual rate coil springs, which also go a long way to enhancing ride comfort.

Some truck manufacturers make buyers pay extra for active safety features. Not so with Toyota. Standard equipment on all 2022 Tundras is Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5. An enhanced system that offers a pre-collision system to detect vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists; it offers full-speed dynamic radar cruise control; an automatic high-beam system, blind spot monitors, land departure alert, steering assist, lane trace assist, rear cross-traffic braking and rear cross-traffic alert. In addition to all of that Tundra has 8 interior airbags designed to keep your precious cargo safe.

Coming in the very near future will be an electrified version of the 2022 Tundra. One with Hybrid technology, which is going to provide more power, more torque, more towing and believe it or not, improved fuel economy yet again.

So with all this in mind, I suggest that if you want or need a truck then you really need to come into Western Toyota and see this all-new Tundra. Thank you! Visit Western Toyota today to test drive and order your new Tundra.
